Facebook to launch smartphones next year

According to New York Times , The World’s largest Social Networking website may launch its own smartphone sometime next year. The Newspaper reports that Facebook has already hired half a dozen of ex-Apple Engineers who had previously worked on the iPhone and iPad to work on Facebook’s secret project. This is not the first time we are hearing this kind of rumor about Facebook tryingto find space in hardware business, For the last two years, there have been speculation that Facebook has been trying hard to find a niche or space in hardwarebusiness and compete with the likes of other Technologygiants like Apple and Google. It will be a very lucrative business for Facebook, Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg had already sensed this, It was also revealed that the company have tried earlier to launch asmartphone but was later met with upsets. There were also talks by the Social Network to team up with HTC on a handset but the earlier plans were abandoned in 2010. According to the NYT, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken a particular interest in this important project and has been holding talks and interviews with potential suitors for the project, the project is codenamed “Buffy.” A certain Facebook employeetold the New York Times thatZuckerberg is worried the social network is just an appon other manufacturers’ hardware.
